Things I can help with

• A fact on this site that is wrong, out of date or unclear. Tell me which page and what it says.
• A quay that has changed. Departure points move, and a page here that sends somebody to the wrong pier is the worst failure this site can have. The pier page is the one I most want kept honest.
• Which of the six suits your day, if the comparison and the reviews have not settled it between them.
• Anything about the water itself — the crossing to Nesodden, which islands are worth a whole afternoon, what the light does in December. I grew up on the B10 and worked six summers on the Rådhusbrygge booths.

Things I cannot help with

I am an independent guide to other people’s boats, not an operator and not a booking agent. I cannot sell, reserve, hold, move or refund a place on any sailing. I cannot change or cancel a booking made elsewhere either — that goes through the platform you booked with, using the confirmation they sent you, or through the operator named on it.

I also cannot sell you a ferry ticket. The island boats from Rådhusbrygge 4 and the crossing to Nesoddtangen are public transport, bought the way you buy any other Ruter journey, and this site has no part in that transaction at all. How that works, and why it is on this site anyway.

And I cannot tell you what a particular sailing will be doing on a particular date — how full it will be, which guide is on, or whether it runs in weather that has not happened yet. The wooden ships are cancelled and refunded if the fjord ices over, and beyond that I have no sourced figure for how often anything is called off for wind, so I am not going to invent one. What the weather actually does to a sailing is as close as I can get. For anything that has to be certain, and access needs above all, ask the operator through the platform before you travel.

Before you write

Four questions arrive most weeks and all four already have pages. Where does my boat leave from: three quays at the City Hall and one at Langkaia, and the most-booked cruise uses the fourth. Is this the fjord from the photographs: no, and here is what it is instead. Can I just take the public boat: yes, on an ordinary Ruter ticket. Which one is best: the ratings are three tenths of a point apart on wildly different samples.
